<p>What is 5G and how is it going to affect your life? <a href="http://www.cnbc.com/">CNBC’s</a> Arjun Khrapal posed these questions and more to InterDigital’s CEO Bill Merritt and <a href="http://www.wballiance.com/">Wireless Broadband Alliance’s</a> CEO Shrikant Shenwai in an interview at Mobile World Congress 2016. </p>
<p>“5G is a revolutionary change in networks because it will enable a whole host of services that to date have not been available,” stated Bill. “Much like Internet in the 1980’s changed peoples lives, 5G will do the same thing.” It is anticipated that 5G will provide all new data services that consumers can get from people aggregating data that’s being collected over the networks. For example, some of the big areas will be smart cities, home automation, enhanced health services, <a href="http://www.interdigital.com/all_results?search_query=onetransport&search_button=Search">smart transport</a>, etc. "The consumer will have the ability to bring everything together and manage it much more effectively," explains Shrikant. </p>
<p>Also part of the conversation, the Internet of Things and its tie to 5G, the challenges of standardization, industry collaboration and the roadmap of 5G to the consumer. </p>
